System architecture With the development of mobile games, the improvement of game picture quality, and the enrichment of game playing methods and game scenes, higher requirements have been proposed for the performance of mobile intelligent terminals. At present, the hardware performance requirements of the mobile intelligent terminal proposed by the game application and the limitation of the current hardware state of the mobile intelligent terminal are the main problems causing the poor user experience of the game. Due to the thermal radiation and other conditions, the mobile intelligent terminal cannot always operate at the highest performance. In particular, when users play mobile games for a long time, the terminal temperature will be too high. The mobile intelligent terminal must adjust CPU and GPU frequency for cooling. CPU/GPU frequency reduction will inevitably lead to performance degradation, resulting in the loss of frames, which has become the main pain point affecting the user’s game experience.
The main reason for this problem is that the information between the game application and the mobile intelligent terminal is not interoperable, and there is no unified interaction protocol and data format, so there is no effective collaboration. Some general principles to improve the user’s game experience are provided as follows:
Making the game and the mobile intelligent terminal cooperate better
Ensuring joint optimization
Providing the optimal performance guarantee in the key scenes of the game
Ensuring that the game does not lose frame
When the terminal reaches the performance bottleneck, ensuring the game actively cooperates to reduce the overhead
This standard proposes an open communication protocol and unified data structure to address the problem from both the game application and the mobile intelligent terminal. The framework builds a bridge for communication between the two parties, which allows the efficient exchange of control information and parameters, and therefore enables operable interactions including data access, feedback, read and/or set. The goal is to optimize the game application, giving full play to the advantages of mobile intelligent terminal hardware performance and providing better user experience for the gamers.
A typical scenario is that a mobile terminal obtains current resource information of the terminal, such as a GPU/CPU frequency, and transfers this information to the corresponding game application based on the data structure and protocol defined in this document.
The game application can transfer this information to the corresponding server, and the server calculates resource scheduling information recommended in the current game scenario and feeds back it to the game application. The game application delivers the recommended resource scheduling information to the terminal in the standard format.
And the terminal adjusts resources based on the recommended resource scheduling information. The mobile intelligent terminal and game application can predefine a set of game scenarios and their level. During the game running time, the game application delivers information such as game scenarios, scenario levels, and recommended resource scheduling information to the terminal in real-time based on the data structures and protocols defined in this standard.
The terminal adjusts resources based on the previous information. A standard of data structure and transmission protocol can help to improve the cross-platform capability of the game application and deploy the automatic game performance optimization solution to terminals and operating systems of different vendors, improving the work efficiency of developers and user experience of game players.
The optimized architecture of games and mobile intelligent terminals, as depicted in Figure 1, mainly includes the following: game applications, game guarantee services, resource service protocol, resource coordination interfaces, hardware modules, etc.
